Dr Pierluigi Fracasso is a medical doctor based in the Gastroenterology Department of Azienda Sanitaria Roma 2, Italy. He graduated in medicine in 1985 and has been specialised in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy since 1989. Previously he has worked at the Gastroenterology Department of Azienda Sanitaria Roma 5, and at the National Cancer institute Regina Elena in Rome, Italy.
Dr Fracasso’s main interest is in on prevention of digestive cancer and studying high-risk groups, such as familial polyposis, Lynch syndrome, and long-standing inflammatory bowel disease. He is also involved in screening the general population for gastroenterological diseases, including coeliac disease.
Since 2008, he has been a member of the steering committee of the European Society of Primary Care Gastroenterology since, formerly as a Secretary and now as an Education Officer. Dr Fracasso is also a member of the education committee of United European Gastroenterology (UEG).
