Dr Riccardo Asero is an allergy and clinical immunology specialist. He completed his studies at the University of Milan, Italy, obtaining a degree in Medicine in 1982, and specialising in Allergology and Clinical Immunology in 1985.
He received grant funding from the University of Milan between 1988 and 1989 and became Head of the Allergy Department at Hospital Caduti Bollatesi, Bollate, Italy, between 1990 and 2002 and in Clinica San Carlo, Paderno Dugnano, Italy, from 2002 to date.
He was a member of the Italian Society of Immunology, Clinical Immunology and Allergology (SIICA) between 1990 and 2005 and is a member of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) since 1997. He has also served as Vice President of Associazione Allergologi Immunologi Italiani Territoriali e Ospedalieri (AAIITO) 2007–2010, 2013–2016, and was President Elect in 2016–2019.
He has authored over 330 papers in the field of allergy and clinical immunology. Furthermore, he was Associate Editor of European Annals of Allergy and Clinical Immunology between 2005 and 2010 and Editor-in-Chief between 2011 and 2016, and has been a reviewer for specialist journals including The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Allergy, Clinical and Experimental Allergy, Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, Current Opinion Journals and The Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.
He has a special interest in food allergy and intolerance, allergenic cross-reactivity, allergy diagnosis, chronic urticaria, allergen-specific immunotherapy, allergens and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug hypersensitivity.
